FANGCHENG PORT

Fangcheng  Port
The Port of Fangcheng, situated on the north bank of Beibu Bay, is the farthest hub port on the southwest coast of China. The Port now has 23 berths, among them, 8 are for vessels of 10,000 dwt and the largest berth is for vessels of 30,000 dwt. The total berth line is 2751m long. The designed annual throughput capacity was 6.31 million tons. The annual throughput capacity soon reach 8 million tons after the ongoing technical rennovation is finished. The throughput of the port was 4.63 million tons in 1995.
During the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, the berth line was increased by 1265m and 13 new berths were built, out of which one berth is for vessels of 30,000 dwt and 10 berths for vessels of 1000-5000 dwt. The designed annual throughput capacity was increased by 1.9 million tons. The main structural of the quaywall is the gravity-type large diameter cylinders with reinforced concrete thin wall. There are 5 new techniques, such as long distance (340m) launch on water cushion "transportation, as well as underwater installation of sections of the cylinders, which were successfully used the time in China.
